Canalegrande. Italy By The Glass. Pasadena, CA, USA & Verona, May 10, 2004 –- A change is taking place in Italy's vineyards which will affect the way you think about Italian wine. Canalegrande - Modern Wines from Ancient VinesIn the last ten years Italian wine producers have been seeking out native, ancient vines, and in this way rediscovering lost pieces of their viticultural heritage.Today, with the use of modern technology, wine makers are able to fully express the potential of these ‘lost' varietals. The results of their dedicated research are arriving in restaurants all over Italy, and offer diners a luscious range of flavors and fragrances unavailable from any other wine country in the world.Italy by the Glass - Discover Her Sip by SipIn the fall of 2004 'Italy By The Glass' ( http://www.ItalyByTheGlass.com) is going to release several 'ancient' varietal wines from a number of small, highly-rated Italian wine producers under a common, simplified, easy to understand label (Canalegrande) in order to give restaurants outside of the great opportunity to ‘serve' Italy's age-old viticultural heritage "by the glass".- Canalegrande wines are top-quality, complex, estate-bottled wines
made exclusively from autochthonous Italian grape varieties.- Every Canalegrande wine has been selected for its authenticity ("terroir"), excellent value and pure enjoyment.- The Canalegrande web site ( http://www.canalegrande.info) will provide detailed information about each wine selection for the consumer and the trade (wine buyers, importers, distributors).----------Canalegrande No 1: Daniela Rigamonti 2003 "Carefully vinified from a blend of selected Barbera and Bonarda grapes. The grapes were hand-picked, crushed separately and vinified according to the ‘Marchesato Podere Casale' method. Thus the wine fermented first in large vats and then for a limited period of time in small oak barrels where it developed its noble characteristics and aromas. Ruby red in color with a hint of rose hips on the nose. Full cherry fruit and the taste of almonds. This balanced, full-bodied wine is enjoyable to drink now but will continue to develop personality with further aging. Ideal with red and white meats, roast and braised beef." (Estate bottled by: Az. Agr. Podere Casale; http://www.poderecasale.com/inglese/eng_main.htm)-------------"Italy By The glass" is currently in the process of building a world-wide distribution network for the 'canalegrande' brand. We are inviting importers, distributors, wholesalers and restaurant wine buyers to contact us in order to learn more about this exciting "canalegrande. by the glass." wine-by-the-glass program.http://www.ItalyByTheGlass.comhttp://www.Canalegrande.infomailto:e-mail protected from spam bots.
